Doddie's Grand Tour 2025

Rob Wainwright is once again captaining an epic cycle to wrap up the Doddie Aid festivities!

Off the back of the success of Rob’s Doddie Cup 500 ride in 2022, Doddie Cup 555 Ride in 2023 and All Roads Lead to Rome in 2024, we are pleased to announce Doddie’s Grand Tour 2025.

Rob will lead the core team from Dublin to Stranrear on ‘day 0’, and on Wednesday 5th February the real fun begins! Most brave individuals taking on this winter Caledonian adventure will join Rob on the road in South West of Scotland. Their aim is simple, to cover a route of over 700 miles over four days finishing in Edinburgh on Saturday 8th February. Scotland takes on Ireland at Murrayfield on the 9th, and we are sure teams will be warmly welcomed into Edinburgh for celebrations the day before!

As the team behind the ride finalises details, we want to extend a thanks to the individuals, clubs and schools who are so kindly opening their doors to riders across the five days. It’s not one to be missed!

If you or connections of yours are up for supporting in any way you see fit, or you are brave enough to want to register a team last minute, then do contact us on robsride@myname5doddie.co.uk.

Details on route tracking and where you can welcome riders into Edinburgh will be published on this page in January 2025.

FAQs

My Name’5 Doddie Foundation was set up in 2017 by former Scotland rugby player, Doddie Weir and friends following his motor neuron disease diagnosis (MND). From the outset, Doddie was committed to help fellow sufferers and drive research into this, as yet, incurable disease.

To date, My Name’5 Doddie Foundation has committed over £11 million to fund vital research as well as 2 million to support people living with the disease. The Foundation’s vision is a World Free of MND and won’t stop funding research until this has been achieved.

There have been a number of rides organised by Rob Wainwright, all of which follow a similar theme of cycling between two stadiums with the match ball for a Six Nations fixture. Previous routes have included Twickenham to Edinburgh, Edinburgh to Cardiff and Edinburgh to Rome!

Please contact robsride@myname5doddie.co.uk to register your team, or to find out more.

All are welcome to support the efforts of the teams by following them through Doddie Aid social channels as the year goes on, and of course by making a donation!

All of the teams taking part in Doddie's Grand Tour 2025 are committed to fundraising for My Name’5 Doddie Foundation.Sponsorship is different from fundraising in that teams may be looking for support in covering their participation costs. If you are interested in sponsoring a team but do not have direct connections to one, please contact the Foundation team on: robsride@myname5doddie.co.uk
